The Easy Way and the Hard way to Reinstate Your Suspended Google Business Profile
Business Profiles are a great way for businesses to reach customers, increase visibility, and boost engagement. However, not all businesses use them responsibly. When this happens, Google suspends their business profile from appearing in search results or other online listings. This article will provide an overview of why Google suspends business profiles and what options are available to those affected by the suspension.
To reinstate a suspended Google My Business listing, it is necessary follow the proper procedure. A suspension indicates that your listing has been removed from Google Maps and Search, either temporarily or permanently.
There are two types of suspensions for a listing. A soft suspension means the listing is still displayed on maps and search as unowned without any control over the listing. A hard suspension is when the listing is completely removed from search and maps.
Either way, the burden of proof is up to you. In Google's view you will remain suspended until you follow the proper procedures and provide physical documents as proof that you and your business actually exist.

3. Review Google Guidelines
The first step in reinstating your Google Business Profile is to review Google's guidelines. If your profile has been suspended or removed, it is likely that you have violated one or more of these guidelines. Therefore, it is essential to understand them to avoid further issues. The guidelines cover topics such as content, user-generated content, and user safety. Be sure to read and understand all of these guidelines before proceeding.
4. Address the Issue
Once you have identified the reason for your profile suspension or removal, address the issue. This may involve removing or modifying content that violates Google's guidelines, correcting incorrect information, or verifying your business's ownership. You can find more information on how to address specific issues on Google's support page.
5. Submit a Reinstatement Request
After you have addressed the issue, submit a reinstatement request. This can be done through your Google Business Profile account. Go to the "Support" section and select "Appeal a suspension or removal." Provide a detailed explanation of the issue and the steps you have taken to address it. Be sure to include any relevant documentation, such as screenshots or receipts. For more information check out this article in
6. Wait for a Response
Once you have submitted your reinstatement request, be patient. It can take up to a week for Google to review your request and respond. If your request is approved, your business profile will be reinstated. If your request is denied, you will receive a detailed explanation of why and what steps you can take to address the issue.
7. Follow Up
If you do not receive a response within a week, or if your request is denied, follow up with Google. You can do this through your Google My Business account or by contacting Google support directly. Be persistent but polite.
8. Wait to make edits after reinstatement
This is important! Do not make any additional changes or edits to your GBP listing or you could be suspended again. Making changes before a decision has been made by Google Support can cause you to start the entire process from the beginning.
9. Update and Monitor Your GBP
Several days after your Google Business Profile has been reinstated, don't forget to update it with all of your current business information so that customers can find you easily. Make sure to include pictures of your products and services as well as any promotions or discounts that may be available.
